Training

Founded in 1980 Aerospace Inspection Training lead the way with over 20 years experience of providing NDT training for the Aerospace Industry.

No other Aerospace NDT School has so much experience. A comprehensive schedule of classes is offered at the Norwich School or world-wide at the customer's facility. Please refer to our separate training programme for dates and prices, or contact us directly for an on-site quotation. The outline for all classes are detailed on this web site. Our courses are designed to satisfy your NDT training needs in several ways.

The curriculum for all Level I/II NDT classes meets or exceeds the requirements of Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A, NAS 410, EN 4179, ISO 9712, PCN Gen and EN473.

The Level 1/2 NDT classes include 50 per cent hands-on training to support the theory portion of the course.
All Level 1/2 NDT classes include preparation for Employer Based qualification examinations and PCN central certification examinations as required by the customer.
Level 3 and Level 2 refresher training is offered in a workshop format. The workshop provides training materials and examinations to determine the weaknesses of the student, and one-on-one tuition from our Level 3 instructor to develop those weak areas.
Seminars and Advanced Courses are offered to meet the special needs of the aerospace industry.
All training programmes are supported by a detailed training manual for each student. The manual includes daily quizzes that are reviewed by the instructor and are intended to provide an indication of progress to both the student and the instructor.
On-site services are offered for all Training Programmes. We will travel to any location world-wide. This service is advantageous when a number of personnel from one company require a training programme that may be tailored to the exact requirements of the customer.

On-Site Training & Certification

Flexibility, convenience, and cost effectiveness are the cornerstone of AITs' on-site training programme. AIT operate three on-site options to meet your different training and certification requirements:

In-House Programme

A traditional on-site training program whereby one company sponsors the training and/or examinations at their facility for their employees and/or contractors.

Partnership Programme

For smaller companies who find on-site training non cost effective due to the small number of staff requiring training or certification. The partnership programme allows companies to `partner' together to hold a class that includes students from each of the companies. In choosing this on-site option the cost per student is kept at a cost effective rate to all the participating companies.

Sub-Contract Programme

The choice for those companies with their own training facilities but with insufficient specialist employees to hold a traditional in-house programme. With this option, the course is opened to the public and the sponsoring company receives discounts on employee registration fees.

Certification Services

Aerospace Inspection Training holds ISO 9001-2000 accreditation as a PCN Test Centre, and is an experienced and recognised Level 3 Outside Agency for the administration of qualification examinations for employer based certification.

PCN is operated as a subsidiary company of the British Institute of Non-destructive Testing and is an accredited certification body to EN 45013. The PCN Scheme conforms to a number of standards for the qualification of NDT personnel including ISO 9712 and EN473. Entry to PCN examination requires training and experience according to published guidelines.

PCN is a comprehensive scheme divided into levels, sectors and methods. The aerospace sector has special requirements and this is reflected in the specially tailored NDT personnel certification scheme that is recognised by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). Candidates for certification have to demonstrate experience in performance of NDT tasks in the aerospace sector, possess technical knowledge of aerospace products and be familiar with the application of NDT in the aerospace industry. Certification is available in five methods at Levels 2 and 3. For Magnetic Particle and Penetrant Testing, certification is available in aerospace materials and components. For Ultrasonic, Eddy Current and Radiographic Testing, aerospace structures is available as an additional category to materials and components.

Under the 'Employer Based' system, the certification of your personnel is usually performed in response to your customer, governments, or code requirements. It is also performed to develop your business and protect you against possible legal liability, because certification implies that NDT personnel are properly qualified. Certification is usually performed according to one or more of the following documents:

In these schemes it is the responsibility of the employer to produce and implement a 'Written Practice' detailing the process of training, experience, examination and certification of their NDT personnel. Companies that adopt this approach may wish to employ the services of an Outside Agency Level 3 to administer their examinations. The AIT Examiners, who are all centrally qualified at Level III, provide this service and can also assist with the preparation and production of a written practice tailored to your company.

Aerospace Inspection Training is a BINDT Accredited Outside Agency for Level 3 services. Our Level 3 consultants hold ASNT and PCN certification and BAE approvals, and have extensive experience in auditing and preparing companies for their EASA and/or NADCAP audit.

Your own Level 3 will be on call 365 days a year saving you full time salaries and providing the benefit of the most experienced aerospace Level 3 personnel.

We will travel worldwide in order to provide these services for your company.
